To break open the safe, we must first learn what the standard, point-slope, and slope-intercept forms of a linear equation look like in order to be RICH!!!!!!!

Task

To begin our attempts at opening that safe we must learn what these forms look like in the first place.

Process

To begin this activty we are given a point at (3, 9), with a slope of 3. We must now do the steps to plug in the items we know into the three forms of linear equations.

Point-slope form:

Plug in your point and slope into the formula.

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 3 = 3(x - 9)

Slope-intercept form:

This formula is given to you as you solve for Y in the point-slop form.

  1. y - 3 = 3(x - 9)
  2. y - 3 = 3x - 27
  3. y = 3x - 24

 

Standard Form:

To get this formula from the slop-intercept form we must get all variables to one side.

  1. y = 3x - 24
  2. y - 3x = -24
