Introduction

 


Greetings class we have been learning about living healthy which includes  eating disorders,our behaviors, and what we eat .In this lesson, we'll learn how to eat a healthy and well balanced diet, as it is important to your everyday life.  

Task

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

Your task for this lesson will be to remake one of your family's favorite dish in a healthier form. The goal is for each of you  to create a healthier recipe of your favorite dish. Each of you will prepare the dish and  for the class/parent share on  Friday, December 16,2016.

Activity 1:

Examine the food labels of the ingredients of your favorite dish. Visit this link for assistance

Activity 2:

Visit www.choosemyplate.com and click "10 Tips Nutrition Education Series".  Read "Build a Healthy Meal" and record any of  the 10 tips which you connect with in your journal.Think about these questions as you read:  What does a healthy meal start with?  Which tip do you think is the most beneficial to me and my family?  

Activity 3:

Read  1  celebrity interviews about eating health interviews: Complete a 3:2:1 worksheet.

2 cups butter

3 cups white sugar

6 eggs

4 cups all-purpose flour

2/3 cup milk

The Original  
• 707 calories per slice

The Healtier 
• 294 calories per slice
• 12.6 grams total fat
• 4.7 grams saturated fat



Healthier Recipe

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise1 3/4 cups sugar1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened2 large eggs12 ounces cake flour (about 3 cups)2 teaspoons baking powder1/2 teaspoon salt1 cup nonfat buttermilk
