Electromagnetic waves, the electromagnetic spectrum and photons.

Introduction

Today we are going to learn about electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic radiation is one of the many ways that energy travels through space. The heat from a burning fire, the light from the sun, the X-rays used by your doctor, as well as the energy used to cook food in a microwave are all forms of electromagnetic radiation. It is amazing, isn't it?

In this lesson, for it we will know much more abot it  and we will  strengthen our knowledge! Are you ready?

Task

Our task today  is to master a topic in physics- electromagnetic waves. To do this properly, you should use this material- https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/light-waves/introduction-to…

After reading this material, you will have to answer 10 different questions, which will strengthen your acquired knowledge.

1.What is the SI unit for frequency?

  1.  Hertz(Hz)
  2. Amplitude
  3. Wavelength

2.What is the definiom of an amplitude?

  1. The vertical distance between the tip of a crest and the wave’s central axis.
  2. The horizontal  distance between the tip of a crest .
  3. The  distance between the tip of something

3.What is the definion of the wavelength?

  1. The vertical  distance between two consecutive troughs or crests.
  2. The horizontal distance between two consecutive troughs or crests.
  3. The h distance between two things.

4.A particular wave of electromagnetic radiation has a frequency of:

  1. 1.5×1014 Hz
  2. 1.5×1011 Hz
  3. 1.5×109 Hz

5.The write equation to solve for wavelength is:

  1. λ=c/v
  2. λ=v/c
  3. V=c*c

6.What would you expect to happen to the frequency of a light wave if its wavelength were increased by a factor of 10?

  1. If we increase the wavelength by a factor of 10, then the frequency will decrease to 1/10 , of its initial value.
  2. If we increase the wavelength by a factor of 10, then the frequency will decrease to 1/50 , of its initial value.
  3. If we increase the wavelength by a factor of 10, then the frequency will decrease to 1/99 , of its initial value.

7. What are the units of period?

  1. The units of period are minutes.
  2. The units of period are seconds.
  3. The units of period are hours.

8.What is the Planck’s  equation?

  1. E=h*ν
  2. h=E*ν
  3. E=v*h

9.Electromagnetic waves can be classified and arranged according to their various wavelengths/frequencies. This classification is known as the:

  1.  speed of a light
  2.  electromagnetic spectrum
  3. dynamic spectrum

10.Whisch sentence is correct?

  1. The period (T) is simply the reciprocal of the wave’s frequency.
  2. The period (T) is long item.
  3. The period (T) electromagnetic spectrum.

Process

In order to correctly answer the  10 questions, carefully read the text abaut electromagnetic waves. Read  carefully through it, if you have some  difficulties to answer the questions. If you have some problems with questions, use the textbook  Be sure to read the all  questions correctly to avoid inadvertent errors.
