World Geographer Webquest

Introduction

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations!

You have been selected by the Nellie McClung Department of Geography to develop a world geography folder book to teach students about geography.

Task

As a member of the Geography Team, you will be working with a group of 2-3 students. Each group member will be responsible for completing all of the tasks so each member of the group can create a final file folder book project.

The following are the subtopics you must research and present in your file folder book.

Subtopics:

Canadian Geography - Learn about the geography and some special features of Canada. How does the geography of your home province of Alberta impact the culture and everyday lives of the people that live there?

World Geography - Learn about the geography of the world. Identify the seven continents. Locate and identify our four featured countries of study this year.  ( Tunisia, India, Peru and Ukraine)

Cardinal Directions - Learn about the cardinal directions and use them to help you locate places on a map.

Geography Terms and Concepts - Find out the meaning and importance of the terms: equator, hemisphere and poles.

Process

The Process:

You will be working with 2-3 peers to research the subtopics. Once your research and tasks are complete you will be responsible for creating a file folder book to present your information to The Nellie McClung Department of Geography and teach other students about geography.

Note taking guides and/or maps will be provided for each subtopic to help you gather your research information.

Canadian Geography:

You will find information about the geography of Canada, information about each of the provinces/territories and an example of how the map of Canada should be labeled. Write your information on your note taking guide and then neatly label the map of Canada.

World Geography:

You will find information about the geography of the world, information and an example of how the map of the world should be labeled by continent and with the major oceans. Write your information on your note taking guide and then neatly label the map of the world. Label where each of our four countries of study are located ( Tunisia, India, Peru and Ukraine) and of course where you live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
