4th grade Revolutionary War

Introduction

In this Webquest you and a partner will be creating an ABC book about the Revolutionary War to be shared with 1st graders and 2nd graders at Shiloh.

Task

Use letters of the alphabet to explain the Revolutionary War in a way that 1st and 2nd graders can understand and make sure it is entertaining. Your job is to present it in a way that it will be rememberable to the younger students, which means having a lot of color!

Process

Part 1: Your job is to work with your partner and educate yourself about the Revolutionary War. I have provided a list of websites for the these requirements so searching the internet is not needed!

You first need is to find the information on the websites provided.

2 causes of the war

3 major battles

5 influencial people

6 facts about The Declaration of Independence

2 famous women of the war

3 effects the war had on the United States

2 famous spies

3 items of choice or fun facts

When you're getting your information keep in mind that you'll have to something for every letter of the alphabet even x!

* Remember to divide work out as equally as possible, you will not only be graded on your work but how well you work as a team!

Part 2: MAPPING OUT YOUR BOOK. Before I show you how to create a book in Google you have to forst map out your book on paper. I will provide you with paper to map out your book or creat a rough draft. Below are requirements or hints to help you along.

* Each page must contain one letter of the alphabet.

* Each page must have a picture that goes along with informationon page. For example if your "A" page is about John Adams and you put a flower on the page this would not be appropriate for this page.

* The writing for each letter must be at least 2 sentences and remember it has to be written so that 1st or 2nd graders can understand it

* Your book must have a cover, title page and a page about the authors.(must include both authors)

YOU WILL BE GRADED ON ALL THE ABOVE, BUT ALSO CREATIVITY AND NEATNESS.

Part 3:Creating final product. Once you have the paper copy of your book you are ready to put it in book form. I will show you how to use the book template. Here are some hints to make putting the final product together easier for you.

*Keep things simple.

* Make it colorful

* Be consistant in your layout so not to cause confusion.

* Use clipart for you pictures instead of photographs so you cam color it because we don't have a color printer.
