You are about to plan the holiday of your choice. Think of yourself as the "trip designer". Where have you wanted to go? What activities do you enjoy doing when you are on vacation? What time of the year do you want to go and how long do you want to stay? These are just some of the things you need to think about. The key to an awesome holiday, is in the planning. Looking at what a trip entails takes time, but in the long run it can make your vacation run smoother and be more enjoying. So if you don't want your vacation to end in disaster, START PLANNING!

Your task is to become a super planner! Once you have chosen you destination for your holiday, think about the details of the trip. Details you need to include in your budget are travel, food, accommodation and activities. Use Microsoft Excel to keep track of your budget. Consider how you will layout the spreadsheet to begin with.

1. Decide on where you are going on vacation.
2. Decide on your budget and set up an Excel spreadsheet.. (suggestion $5,000 - $10,000)
3. Decide on the length of your vacation.
4. Decide on how you will travel. It may involve more than one mode of travel. (Plane, Car, Boat or Train) Use this website to find flights.
5. Decide on what you want to do: a. places to see; and b. things to do.
6. Decide on how you want to take care of your food. If you are staying in a hotel/resort, will all you meals be there and include in the price or will they be an added expense? Decide if you are gpoing to eat at different restaurants each day.
7. Decide on what you want to have for spending money and what items you think you will be buying. (Souvenirs, post cards, stamps for the post cards or something else.
9. Make a pie chart representing your budget allocations.
8. Reflect on your budget by answering the following questions:
- What is the most expensive part of your holiday?
- How did you decide on how much money to spend on food?
- Would you change your budget or holiday destination in any way?
