Your goal for this webquest is to follow the instructions and complete the activities/project so that you will be able to:
- explain the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs,
- create a business idea (with an original name, motto, and logo), and
- successfully create a basic business plan for your business.
Process
Process: Activities 1,2 and 3 should be done on one MS Word Doc, Activity 4 should use the downloadable Word Doc, and Activity 5 should be a separate Word Doc. 3 Documents will be turned in.
Activity 1:
Shark Tank Activity:
Let's take a look at real life entrepreneurs! Have you ever watched ABC's "Shark Tank"?
Working with a partner, use MS Word to answer the following questions.
Directions:

Choose one Shark Tank Episode to watch. Within that episode, choose ONE idea that is being pitched to the Sharks. You will watch the entrepreneur's pitch for about 10-15 minutes.
Answer the following questions with your partner.
- Explain why you chose this idea.
- Discuss how the entrepreneur(s) pitched their idea to the Sharks.
- How were they able to market themselves as an entrepreneur, and their product/service?

Complete the Entrepreneurship Self Assessment. In a MS Word document, copy and paste your score for the assessment and the brief summary of your results. Share your opinion of your results in 2-3 sentences.

Business Brainstorm Activity
Open a MS Word document. Complete the Business Brainstorm activity by answering the questions below.
- Think about yourself. List one of your hobbies, one of your interests, and one area of expertise.
- Reflect on your hobby, interest, and area of expertise. Choose ONE to use as your business idea.
- What will your business do?
- Using the internet, find 2 existing business that sell what you plan to sell. Copy and paste the web addresses.
- Where are the companies located?
- List 1 thing that you like about each website.
- List 1 thing that you dislike about each website (if any).
- After reviewing each company’s website, what will your business provide that is different or better than theirs?
- Think of and list an original business name AND motto.

Business Plan Project (Major Project Grade)
- Read and use the article at http://articles.bplans.com/writing-a-business-plan/a-standard-business-plan-outline/29 to help you plan and organize your business plan. You are free to review other parts of this web site ( http://www.bplans.com ) to understand the purpose and function of a business plan. The more realistic your plan is the better the chance of being successful!
- Based on your business type, choose a business plan sample that is similar to your business type. Review the sample business plans at http://www.bplans.com/sample_business_plans.php
- Watch the Business Plan video below to review the required sections of the business plan.

- Now that you know what should be included in your Business Plan, let's get started. Open a MS Word document and create your Cover Page first. Following the Business Plan Outline, create your own business plan using the required format and section headings.
- Very important note: Make sure that you DO NOT copy the sample business plans. These are designed to be a guide or template for you to use in creating and designing YOUR company's business plan. No two business plans are alike. Feel free to include details that are specific and realistic for your business. Make your business stand out from the rest and offer products/services that your competitors don't.
