Introduction
Adjectives help to make sentences come alive. They give a detailed picture of what the writer would like to say.

- Analyze Learners- This is an introductory lesson for first grade mainstream students. There are a total of 15 students; 10 are on level, 1 is monolingual (Spanish), 2 are below level, and 2 are above level.
- State Standards and Objectives-State standard: LAFS.1.L.1.1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
- Selective Strategies, technology, media, materials- Tablet/phone, paper plate, sand or sand box, classroom objects to describe, index cards. Students will use hands on activities as they study adjectives.
- Utilize Technology Media- The final product was tested to make sure all components worked correctly. A trial run was completed to verify that all media was successfully embedded.
- Require Learner participation- Students will then use their devices to view and sing along with the video. They will review adjectives by drawing words in the sand. They will also complete activities where there are using the adjectives they ave reviewed.
- Evaluate and Revise- The teacher will give a formative assessment. Students will bring their favorite object from home. The will need to describe it using as many adjectives as possible.
Note: This activity is best completed with the assistance of an adult. Materials are needed before hand. Adults should review the web quest prior to incorporating into lesson.
Examples of materials you may need: Plates filled with sand or small table box ( about 1 foot by 2 feet) filled with sand, markers, index cards, dry erase board, etc.

Process
Fill a plate with sand.
After seeing the video below write each adjective in the plate filled with sand or in a sand box using your finger
Write each adjective on an index card.
Students will randomly choose a card. Describe what is around you using the adjective you chose. When it is used correctly, go to the pile and choose another word.
Use 10 adjectives correctly before going to the next activity.
