Introduction
Golf dates back all the way to the 15th century starting in Scotland. Since then there has been many golfers, courses and history made. With this Webquest it will be your job to put these pieces of golfing history back together to learn about this fantastic sport so many people play today. Not only do you get to see the history of the sport, but you get to see just how much it has changed and all the new technology that was brought to the game.
Task
You and a partner will do your history on what and how the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA became so big and so important. Remember every golfer works all year for this Tournament and the greatest honors are given to the winner. In order to figure out more about the Masters you are to go to http://www.augusta.com/masters/history and research the following: topics:
- How the Masters Began
- Who Bobby Jones is
- Why winning a Major is a big accomplishment
- How the Green jacket came along
- Who the first winner and most recent winner was.
Once you have completed this task you and that same partner will design hole for Augusta. you may need to look up what goes in to designing a hole for a course and the different bunkers, traps and ground textures that may be involved.

Next, you will pair up with someone you like to work with.
- Once you have found your partner, both of you will going to the second link listed above, about the Masters
- Explore the webpage, and look over it (hint: not all the answers will be right in front of you)
- Once you have explored the wed page start answering the purposed questions:
- How the Masters Began
- Who Bobby Jones is
- Why winning a Major is a big accomplishment
- How the Green jacket came along
- Who the first winner and most recent winner was
Lastly the fun part of the lesson! Creating your own hole at the Augusta course for the Masters. You and a partner can draw or create this hole on a computer program if you would like. Be sure to look up over head views of courses and see how they are laid out to make this as accurate as possible.

Conclusion
The purpose of this web quest is to provide information and teach people that may not be familiar with the game of golf. Golf has a lot of tradition that people may not know about which is very interesting. Golf is an international game where the players are from countries all over the world. The task is to see what the student has learned that they did not know about before and to reflect on it. Golf is a sport that is not as popular in physical education class, but we believe that it is a game of tremendous skill that should be taught to students. With this knowledge you may be able to go out and play the game yourself in order to get an even better feel for the game. Or maybe watch a tournament on the Golf channel next time one comes around. This webquest also is a good way to get started in liking this fantastic sport.
