The Benefits of Lifting Weights

Introduction

There is a ton of information about lifting weights on the internet as many people have their own input, but what are the facts and what is untrue? There are a lot of questions when it comes to the benefits of lifting weights. Does lifting weights help lose weight, will my muscles increase in size, will it make me smarter? There are articles and websites that make a case for all of these as well as even more benefits. You will be tasked with finding out what really are the benefits of lifting weights and be prepared to back up your conclusion to share with the class.

Task

You will be working through multiple tasks as you research and explore various information on the benefits of lifting weights. You will be assigned the following tasks:

  1. Research and record the benefits of lifting weights.
  2. Describe ways to build muscle
  3. Establish what are the major muscle groups
  4. Research lifting techniques and then create a list of safety precautions to take before and during the process of lifting weights.
  5. Create one cycle of a lifting plan

Process

Task 1: Research and record the benefits of lifting weights

Start researching the benefits of lifting weights by reading these articles:

Assignment:

  1. Create a benefits chart for lifting weights
  2. List at least 5 benefits
  3. For each benefit of lifting weights find an article that supports it and copy and paste it into your benefits chart

  1. Take the major muscle group quiz- https://www.purposegames.com/game/major-muscle-groups-quiz. Record your results and take as many times until you can locate each muscle group

Task 4: Research lifting techniques and then create a list of safety precautions to take before and during the process of lifting weights
