Drama, Taking a look at Story Building through picture walk

Introduction

Welcome to my WebQuest.  Where you will learn how to build a story through picture walk using a picture book. A picture book is a book which contains many illustrations or pictures, especially one for children.

Task

Students will be asked to:

1. Write a story from pictures.

2. Create a ending for a given story

3. Read their story to the class

4. Role play a story

Process

1. Teacher will role play a scene from a story.

2. Each student will be asked to take a picture book from the reading area.

3. Teacher will play a game of picture walk with students.

4. Each student will be asked to write a ending for the story the teacher will go through with them.

5. Students will be asked to write a story using the picture book they took from the reading area.

6. Students will read their stories to the class and also show the picture book.

7. Students will be placed in groups to role play a scene from a picture book of their choice. 

Evaluation

Students will complete the following:

1. Students will be given a picture book and asked to write about what's taking place on a selected page

2. Students will be asked to prepare a role play for next class

3. Students will be asked to write a story from a picture book for homework

Conclusion

SHARING PICTURE BOOKS WITH YOUR CHILD

It is recommended to begin sharing picture books with your children when they are babies and continue to share them with your kids as they get older. Besides, being fun and visually appealing, learning to "read pictures" is an important literacy skill and picture books can play an important part in a child's becoming visually literate
