Introduction
The celebration of local and national holidays is an integral part of culture.
Getting to know about different cultures´ holidays and how they are celebrated helps you to be able to understand other people and cultures.
This webquest will help you to become more familiar with different holidays from all over the world and become a global citizen!

Task
In pairs, you are going to learn about different holidays from around the world.
You and your partner are going to become experts on one of the holidays and prepare a presentation to present to the rest of your classmates on Culture and Holidays Day!
Process
For this webquest, you will need to follow and complete the following steps -
1) Read the following text about some holidays from around the world and complete the worksheet with the table related to it.
- https://www.readinga-z.com/projectable/book.php?id=140&lang=1&type=book (the reading)
- https://www.readinga-z.com/projectable/resource.php?id=140&lang=1&type=skill&ref=1 (the worksheet with the table)
2) After you have completed the reading and the table, go to the following website to choose a holiday that you would like to focus on for your project. Gather information on your chosen holiday (you can use the table you completed for step number one as a guide).
This link contains information on several different holidays celebrated by many different cultures in the United States. You will need to collect information regarding the origins of your holiday, when it is celebrated, the way it is celebrated (activities, decorations, food) and any other relevant information you would like to include. (where it is celebrated, who celebrates it, why it is celebrated...etc)
Also, remember to include visuals in your presentation. You are free to choose the format.
- IT IS IMPORTANT TO TELL YOUR TEACHER AS SOON AS YOU HAVE CHOSEN A HOLIDAY SINCE TWO GROUPS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE SAME HOLIDAY. THE GOAL IS FOR EACH GROUP TO PRESENT A DIFFERENT HOLIDAY.
3) Once you have chosen your holiday and collected the information you need, you should prepare a presentation as your final project for this unit that you will present to the rest of your class on Holidays and Culture Day!
