FRENCH Eating & Drinking

Introduction

FRESH!  FRESH!  FRESH!

This was the 9th difference between French and American views on eating.

Only 10% of American children get an adequate intake of fresh fruit and vegetables – In France the figure is over 40%

Task

Create a summary of a Paris food market from the time out website.

Process

Go to the French timeout website:

https://www.timeout.fr/paris/shopping/marches-paris

Create a summary (in English) of your assigned market that includes the key aspects.  You must include the following (as a minimum):

1.The name, location (arrondissement, nearest metro), type of market and a bit of its history.

2.Days and hours of operation

3.Some indication of size (perhaps relative to other markets)

4.What is sold - in particular if there are any specialities.

5.What a typical shopper would purchase and some estimate of the cost.

6.Would you visit this market if you were in Paris?  Why or why not?

7.Where would you have the closest experience to this Paris market in Sydney?

8.Using Google docs - create a French vocabulary list of at least 15  foods mentioned or shown in the narrative or photos in the shared document under the name of your market.  Be sure to indicate the gender of each word on your list.

Evaluation

Your work will be peer assessed according to how well it meets the criteria on the marking sheet distributed in class.

Conclusion

You will have a chance to present your narrative to your group, then consolidate your narratives in a single one for group presentation to the class.  Bonne chance!
