Introduction
Dear students,
Your help is needed! In two months’ time our Serbian exchange partners are coming to visit. I am sure you all remember what great hosts they were while we were in Belgrade! I hope we can do the same for them. We need to decide on every detail long before they arrive so that their stay in Pieria is unforgettable. This Webquest will allow you to work in groups, discover things you might not know about Pieria and organize our guests’ stay here.

Task
In this project you will have the chance to meet Pieria in more depth. You will need to browse through a variety of webpages, answer a number of questions, and fill in charts with information.
- You will be divided in 5 groups of 4. You are required to work in your group throughout the project.
- Each member of the group will be assigned a different role and a different area to research.
- Each group will have to come up with some suggestions, make final decisions and use the material collected to create a leaflet in order to inform our guests on their program while in Pieria.
- The whole class will then take final decisions on the best parts of the leaflets, create a new one, and send it to our guest teachers and students.
Process
Read carefully the following directions before you begin your research.
You need to complete all the steps that follow.
1. Form groups of 4 according to my guidelines and decide which of the following roles each of you undertakes:accommodation advisor, sightseeing advisor, food advisor, entertainmentadvisor.
2. Follow the instructions for your role. Complete the final chart in your worksheet but remember to keep notes and the sources you get the information from, as you will later need to revisit them and explain to your classmates why you made the particular choices. Be prepared to alter your list of choices in case your group disagrees.

Entertainment advisor
- Present your findings and justify your list of choices giving detailed information and answering any questions your classmates might pose. After the presentation and in your group make your final choices. You will need to suggest one hotel, 5 sights or places to visit, 3 places for dinner, and 3 places for entertainment.
- Use the feedback you got so far and in your groups design a leaflet with the suggested schedule. Follow the information you will find in this handout. When you finish share your leaflet with the rest of the class. We will vote for the best parts and create a new leaflet to forward to our exchange partners.
- – At some point during this project I will ask you to check your progress by filling out the “my progress” handout.
- The project will be evaluated using the criteria (for the leaflet designed, your ability to complete your charts with valid information, and your cooperative and collaborative skills) in handouts 5a, 5b, 5c, and 5d.
Do not hesitate to ask for your classmates’ or my help.
