Degree of comparison is comparing one person or things to another. There are 3 types of comparison:
1. Positive Degree
2.Comparative Degree
3. Superlative Degree
Task
Today you are going to compare thing or person using the degree of comparison and explain why it become positive, comparative or superlative.
Process
Positive Degree
It speaks only one person. Used to denote the existence of some quality.
Example: Mercury is a large planet.
This house is big.
Comparative Degree
It shows higher degree of the quality. Used in comparing two person or things.
Example: Earth is larger than Mercury.
This house is bigger than that one.
Superlative Degree
It denotes the highest degree of the quality. Used in comparing more than two persons or things.
Example: Jupiter is the largest planet of all.
This is the biggest house in this street.
