Introduction
Learning goal: We are learning about the hospitality industry. A big part of our industry is the food and beverage side of the business. There are great resources available through the National and State Restaurant Association of Delaware. You will explore these resources and share your findings with the class in a presentation format.
Congratulations! You have just been hired as a Culinary Teacher in Delaware for the Sussex County High School. You have been given a group of students who are wanting to learn basic facts about the food service industry, including restaurants. Your new job will require you to do some research on the current news, facts, and state information that is available. Create a mini presentation on your findings.
Task
You have 4 tasks:
1. Research the http://www.restaurant.org/Home and find a current news feature within the association's site to share.
2. Explore the Research and Trends section of the site and look for the Industry Statistics section. Find 3 interesting facts about national statistics. Find 3 facts about the state statics, looking at Delaware. You will need to include that in your presentation.
3. Explore the Events & Groups section of the site. Find 2 events and share their dates! Make sure to include in your slides!
4. Find one Restaurant Career to explore and report out on by navigating to restaurant careers, then select explore industry careers. Share about one of the positions.
Create a 5-10 slide presentation to share with your co-workers! (aka class) You can use any slide presentation tools you wish. Have fun exploring!
Process
tep 1: Start a slide presentation. Make sure to have an Introduction/Title Slide. Save it so you can submit it later! You can get as creative as you would like with this assignment. Visual appeal always adds to the presentation.

Step 3: Find a news article that is posted on their site.
Step 4: Summarize the article in 2-3 sentences to share on 2nd slide in the presentation.
Step 5: Then, On the top toolbar, go to "Explore the Research and Trends section of the site". Explore the Research and Trends section of the site and look for the Industry Statistics section. Find 3 interesting facts about national statistics. Find 3 facts about the state statics, looking at Delaware. You will need to include that in your presentation.
Step 6: Next, Explore the Events & Groups section of the site. Find 2 events and share their dates! Make sure to include in your slides!

Conclusion
This assignment is to build the student's overall understanding of the restaurant industry on a national and state level. By the end of the assignment, the student should have gained insight into the scope of the industry and how it is connected to hospitality.
