Introduction
You and two other classmates have been chosen to start your own weather channel! You must be ready for your first day of operation in just one week. However, you have none of the necessary tools needed to make an accurate weather report! Your group will need to assemble a thermometer, anemometer, and barometer (each person in the group should be responsible for the assembly of one of these weather instruments). Together, you will collect weather data and make a report to class. Your final report should include the current day’s temperature and weather conditions, appropriate clothing advice for the day, and a weather prediction for the next two days. The data collected by each instrument should be recorded (in the appropriate units) and displayed in a table form in the presentation
Task
1. Go to the following website to learn how to make your own thermometer.

2. Go to the following website to learn how to make your own anemometer.

3. Go to the following website to learn how to make your own barometer.

4. The following website will help the group understand weather patterns and how to make predictions about weather.

Process
Please answer the following questions in your group.
1. Do you think you will be able to make an accurate weather prediction based on the instruments that you made? Why or why not?
2. What did you learn about weather through this activity? Please explain the role of each weather instrument in predicting weather patterns and/or giving information regarding the current weather.
Evaluation
1. Give each student a diagram of a thermometer, barometer, and anemometer and ask them to label the different parts. Ask them to give a brief description of how each instrument works.
2. Ask each of the students to describe what the different weather instruments measure and to indicate the units each weather instrument utilizes. Ask them why it is important to indicate the units used.
Conclusion
As a group, research the weather factors that need to be apparent in order for a tornado to form. Go to http://www.weatherwizkids.com/experiments-tornado-bottle.htm and create your own tornado.
