Introduction
You have been chosen to be a junior explorer for the state of Georgia! You are helping state officials plan a zoo, which will include animals from all of the regions in the state (Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Appalachian Plateau, and Valley and Ridge). You must help create the correct habitats for all of the animals in the zoo.
Task

You have been tasked with helping state officials create correct habitats for the animals in a new Regions of Georgia Zoo. This new zoo will include the state animals of Georgia, as well as animals to represent each region of the state. You will take a virtual field trip of each region, noting what types wildlife live there and in your explorer group create a map of your zoo.
Process

Step 1: Individually, take a virtual field trip of each region of Georgia. While visiting each region, fill in a chart which includes several animals live in each region and what their habitats look like.
Click here to go on virtual field trip.
Step 2: With your explorer groups, discuss what you have learned so far about the regions of Georgia and the animals that live in each one. As your group, choose one animal to represent each region of Georgia for your zoo.
Remember in our discussion groups we:
1. Listen respectfully to each other's ideas and do not interrupt when another person is sharing.
2. Share on topic information with each other.
Step 3: In your explorer groups, create a map of the zoo with the correct habitat for each animal.
Each map should include:
- entrance/exit
- a drawing of each habitat and animal
Step 4: Present your investigation findings and your map to the class.
Each member of group will share information about:
- one region
- the animal the group chose to represent that region
- why that animal belongs in the region.
