Introduction
King Henry VIII of England, monarch from 1509-1547, is both famous and infamous. His quest for a male heir not only led to the English Reformation, it also led to a succession of wives--six to be exact. Each made their own impact on history; and each met different fates.
As the famous English nursery rhyme goes:
"King Henry VIII,
To six wives he was wedded.
One died, one survived,
Two divorced, two beheaded."
Today, we'll be getting to know each one.
