Family Structures and Types

How do you define family? Think for just a second about that. Give yourself a minute and write down your definition of family in your notebook. Keep this definition in a safe place for later.

Possibly family is your brother or sister, your closest friends, a neighbor, grandparents, whoever fits your definition. Across the globe, one of the most common family types is that of mother, father, and children. Many families do not fit this exact description, but historically and statistically, this is the most common family structure. Other structures include: single parent families, blended families, multi-racial, and same sex marriage.
