Introduction
You can see a robot arm doing different kind of movements, flips, turns, slides, between others.
These kind of movements can be learned in Geometry.
Those movements basically are three, and you are going to learn them in this webquest.
Task
The idea of this quest is that you learn how to:
-
Understand what is a translation, reflection and rotation on a Cartesian plane.
-
Make each of this geometric transformation.
-
play games related with this topic.
Process
Here we go...
Session 1.
-
Watch the following video...
...and answer the questions proposed in the worksheet "Reflection, Rotation, and Translation" This worksheet must be at hand.
-
Go to Shapes in Motion, https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/geometry/shapeshoot/TranslateShapesShoot.htm and play with the tiles following the respective instructions, playing the 9 rounds. At the end, take a print of your result. How much was it?
-
Who of you get to level 3 in RoboPacker? Visit it at: https://www.eduplace.com/kids/mw/swfs/robopacker_grade4.html and show a print screen if you get this level.
At the moment you open the games and appears a dialog about allowing Flash, please, give the permission and allow it.
Evaluation
1. On the first session, solve questions 1 through 7 on your Reflection, Rotation, and Translation worksheet.
2. On your second session, follow the explanation of your teacher about Translation and Reflections. Then, solve the questions 8 through 16 of your worksheet.
3. Pass your answers to the Google Forms https://forms.gle/GQR1xuz6oDVRcN6T9.
That´s all guys!!
