Introduction
The role of an Educational Assistant is an important one. The help and guidance they offer their students is instrumental to the student's educational success. While EAs are a very important resource, they do not do it alone. Today, we will explore the relationship between the school principal, the classroom teacher and the educational assistant. We will learn how each individual makes an impact on the educational success of the student.
Classroom teachers work closely with the educational assistants in their classrooms. Together they make a strong team, working side by side to create an inclusive learning environment. The relationship between the Teacher and their EA should be one built on mutual respect and trust.
Another important team member who works alongside the classroom teacher and the educational assistant is the school principal. The school principal is responsible for overseeing the school as a whole, and by being the team leader for all of the people that may be employed by the school. They work directly with the school board and they are a trusted contact for all parents and teachers.
Process
A student's main educator is their classroom teacher. The teacher is the one who sets out the lesson plans and evaluates the students learning strengths and weaknesses. They often will work closely with an Educational Assistant to help their classrooms run smoothly. An EA can be responsible for helping students who are special needs, have behavioural problems or are just struggling with learning in a classroom setting. They are an extra pair of hands in a room that often has 20 or more children.
The school Principal is an important member of the educational team. The principal oversees the school and can offer support and guidance when needed. They are also the main point of contact between the teachers and the school board. If more support for a student is requested, the principal would review the requests and either approve it or suggest another approach. It is important for the school Principal to have a good working relationship with the teachers and educational assistants working within their school.
Conclusion
In conclusion, educational assistants, teachers, and principals are vital to the success of the student and the educational team.
A teacher sets forth the lesson plans that an educational assistant must follow. They also provide guidance to the educational assistant and their students.
A principal oversees the school and classroom operations and also provides guidance and leadership to teachers and other educational staff.
Together, The teacher, Educational Assistant and the Principal along with other important support staff are responsible for creating a healthy, positive environment in which all students can thrive and learn.
