Task

With your assigned shoulder partner you will complete this webquest. Use this checklist to make sure you are meeting our Success Criteria Goals!

✓ Complete your Graphic Organizer

✓ Watch and take notes during the video

✓ Identify all types of sound waves.

✓ Complete the quiz to show what you know!

Process

What is a Sound Wave?

Sound Waves are a pattern of motion that transfer energy from place to place without Transferring matter.

There are many different types of sound waves.

Longitudinal waves are waves where the disturbance moves in the same direction as the wave.

Transverse waves are waves where the disturbance moves perpendicular to the direction of the wave.

Sound Waves use Energy to do travel.

When you add Energy to a wave, the amplitude of the wave will grow taller. Energy added to a wavelength, will decrease the wavelength making it shorter.

Watch this video on Sound waves and continue filling in your graphic organizer!

4-PS3-3 Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide.

Clarification Statement: Students will predict how the energy is changing on their graphic organizer using the information from this lesson. Students are able to see how energy is changing through a variety of questions and different resources.

PS3.A: Definitions of Energy: Energy can be moved from place to place by moving objects or through sound, light, or electric currents. (UE.PS3A.b)

Clarification Statement: This resource using many different ways to demonstrate energy moving through objects. The websites lead you to different games and resources to explore types of sound waves.
