Conservation of Energy and Resources

Introduction

Potential and Kinetic Energy Explained | Education Overview

Your quest is to learn about how we use energy and natural resources for here in Ontario and our everyday lives. You will look at how our energy consumption impacts society and the environment, including climate change, and suggest ways to mitigate these impacts. You will evaluate effects of various technologies on energy consumption, and describe ways in which individuals can use technology to reduce energy consumption.

Task

Mission Impossible was just possibled - Victory Baby - Meme Generator

Your task is as follows:

1. Gather information on how we use energy.

2. Get a better understanding of where our energy comes from. Pay close attention to how Ontario creates and delivers energy.

3. Understand/Identify the different types of energy sources and which is better for the environment.

4. Analyze long-term impacts of human uses of energy and natural resources, on society and the environment

5. Discover ways to reduce or conserve our energy consumption.

Process

Below are the links you can use to learn more about the tasks outlined above. You will be working to gather as much information as you can. Use the note taking google doc in the google classroom to help take notes.

Evaluation

Now for the main event(s).

Design and create a Mindomo that highlights what we can do in school as well as what can be done at home to reduce our energy consumption. Include a branches/subtopics about how we receive our energy (electricity) in Ontario.

Create a Mindomo to inform people of things they can do to help conserve energy and help the environment.  Make it really eye catching and interesting. Keep your writing short and concise.

Please include the following in your Mindomo:

-Main Topic Title (Centre of your Mindomo)

-at least 4 branches (subtopics) coming off your main idea (2 branches must identify different sources of energy for Ontario, other branches can be used to identify ideas you have to reduce energy consumption at home and at school)

-Pictures/videos that support your ideas

-Interesting and eye catching lay out (images and videos)

-Concise and catchy statements that support your suggestions

-Evidence of at least 4 key understandings from your research (you will have to research ways you can conserve energy and have a greater environmental impact)

BONUS: Include a branch/subtopic that demonstrates your understanding of the "law of conservation of energy) discussed in class.

Have fun!

Conclusion

I hope you had fun learning about the different energy sources. We all have a role to play when it comes to taking care of the environment and battling climate change. Great work!
