Role of teachers on Students' Emotional Development: For College Students

Introduction

Early childhood experiences shape and play a crucial role in the emotional development of children. Children spend half of their time in school; affected by their peers, teachers, and class environment. In this web quest, you as college students will investigate in a team consisting of two partners the role of teachers in shaping the students' emotional development, and how class environment such as: if the atmosphere is full of comfort or if aggressive bullying class can matter. You must explore how these factors may affect the students' emotional development.

 

The Stages of Emotional Development in Early Childhood (Birth to Age 6) -  Empowered Parents

 

 

Task

You are required to write an essay on Word document that includes an introduction, 6 body paragraphs, a conclusion, and a citation page. You will work in teams consisting of 2 partners. You have to explore psychological theories with real-life examples related to the classroom and schools. Moreover, you are allowed to survey the parents, and teachers to answer questions that assist you to have a well-explained essay. You have to observe in a real classroom in school and then analyze and reflect on the survey and observation.

Outline of the essay:

  • Introduction: 

 

  1. Topic sentence: Use a hook to catch the readers' attention such as question about emotional development.
  2. Background Information: You need to use articles to take background information from.
  3. Thesis statement: it should be the main idea and summarize what your body paragraphs will include.

 

  •  6 body paragraphs:

 

  1. You have to use 4 articles and write each paragraph including one article consisting of a specific idea.
  2. Each body paragraph should include a topic sentence to introduce what the paragraph will be tackling, the content, and a concluding sentence that concludes and summarizes the findings for each specific article.
  3. You have to provide examples from real-life ones.
  4. Each student will be responsible for 2 paragraphs.
  5. You have to survey the educators and teachers in a specific school, write a paragraph on what you asked them for, and reflect on the experience.
  6. You must observe the atmosphere of the classroom and reflect on how it affects the students' emotional development.

 

  •  Conclusion:

 

  1. Restate the thesis statement
  2. Express your opinion on the whole experience of exploring this topic.

 

  • Important Notes:
  1. You have to distribute the work between you equally and fairly.
  2. Make sure to reflect honestly.
  3. Make sure to include the in-text citation and the reference citation page should be APA.
  4. Write the essay in simple language and use appropriate words and meanings.
  5. The essay should be at least 700 words.

  • Answer the question according to your observations: Is there a good relationship between the students, is there a supportive atmosphere between them and the students?
  • Your reflection would be like analyzing the results and describing how it was the atmosphere and how it was your experience.

  • Interview an educator, or teacher and ask relatable questions about the role of educators in the emotional development of the students and reflect on it with the previous paragraph of the observations. This list includes questions you should use to interview them : 
  • How do you perceive your role in students' emotional development? This helps uncover how aware the teacher is of their emotional impact on students.

  • In what ways do you address emotional well-being in your classroom? This provides insights into specific strategies or practices the teacher uses to support emotional growth.

  •   Can you share an example of a time when you helped a student through an emotional challenge? A real-world example will illustrate how they manage emotional situations.

  • You have to brainstorm for more questions like those mentioned previously.

  • Note: You have to brainstorm together to mix ideas and be creative and professional.

  • Group reflection: Reflect on what you’ve observed, analyzed, and learned throughout this journey. Reflect on the articles you've read when they became more obvious and relatable with you through observation and interview

  • You have to relate the information in the articles to your observation and interview. 
  • Conclusion:

  • Restate the thesis statement, don't add any additional information about the articles. Just summarize and open a new discussion in the last sentence to make the conclusion creative. You have the option to express your emotions or opinion about your experience of emotional development in your school, but briefly.
