INTRODUCTION

Your best friend’s family is planning to go on a trip abroad! They are very excited since they have never visited a foreign country before! They are interested in the above-mentioned celebrations, and need your help to decide!

Task

While working on this WebQuest, you are asked to visit different websites to find information about these celebrations and festivals. More specifically, you will work in groups and you will focus on:

  • When each celebration is held
  • What someone can see and do during each celebration
  • You can add any other information you like

In the end, every group will make a presentation in class, and you will decide which celebration is the most suitable for the family. Be ready to vote!

Finally, there is a short language exercise to complete.

Process

STEP 1

Your class is going to be separated into four groups. After visiting the websites and reading the articles, you have to note important information you will use in your presentations.

The Bonfire group (group 1) will focus on the Bonfire Night celebration which is held in England.

The Carnival group (group 2) will focus on the carnival which is held in Venice, Italy.

St Patrick’s group (group 3) will focus on the St Patrick’s Day festival that takes place in Ireland.

La Tomatina group (group 4) will focus on the La Tomatina festival that takes place in Spain.

Finally, you will have to choose one of your partners as a reader of the articles and the rest of you will keep notes on the worksheets provided by the teacher.
