Or is there something up in space pulling on the water? In this WebQuest, you'll become a science investigator to find out the real answer and it's more amazing that you might think.

1.First, explore the basic - Watch the first video and read the article to get a general idea of what tides are and why they happen.

2.Dig Deeper - Look at the diagrams and interactive pages to see exactly how the Earth, Moon, and Sun line up during high tide and low tide. Notice how their positions change during the month.

3.Work together - Discuss with your group:Why are there two high tides every day? Why are some tides stronger than others? What would happen if we didn't have a Moon?

4. Plan your presentation - Decide how to show your findings. Draw diagrams, use simple words, and make sure everyone in the group helps.
