Introduction
The goal of this WebQuest is to see how much you know about Canada, this beautiful country that we live in, but rarely explore! In such a big place, it is easy to forget about the other parts of the country...but they're out there!
You will be in groups of three for these tasks. I have put the names of the group members on the board.
IMPORTANT POINTS:
Names of Canadian provinces and territories, and their capitals - what do you really know?

Task
Identify Canada’s provinces and territories and their capital cities. (SS B3.5)

Process
As you know, we have been learning about the Canadian provinces and territories. To review, spend one class period in your group participating in this activity. It will take at least 30 minutes, so find a comfortable spot in the class before you start.

Now, move along!
1. Visit the following website:
http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/kids/fun-facts/default.asp
Scroll over and explore the provinces and territories of Canada. Have one person read the province, one person read the capital, and one person record the capital cities next to the province or territory using the document on Google Docs.

2. Move on to this website:
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/Canadian_Geography.htm
Choose CAPITALS from the options on the page, and TUTORIAL. One person should choose the province you wish to look at, one person should read the capital city's name, and one person should write the name down next to the province on a sheet of paper. Complete all provinces and territories.
Return to the main page, and choose LEVEL ONE. Listen as they call the capital cities, and choose the correct province. When you complete it, choose SHOW SCORES in the red bar at the top. Take a screen shot of the completed map by pressing the home button and the silver button on the top right of your iPad (at the same time) and then email it to me, being sure to include your names in the email and SCORES as the subject. You may let each member practice this way, and then move on to LEVEL TWO and LEVEL THREE.
3. Once you are confident, there are timed tasks available at:
http://www.yourchildlearns.com/mappuzzle/canada-puzzle.html
If you need to review, choose CANADA INTERACTIVE MAP towards the middle of the page, and practice. Afterwards, each member of your group should complete at least one of the tasks on the page: Provinces Easy, Provinces Hard, and Capitals. At the end, your completion time will be shown. Take a screen shot of the completed map by pressing the home button and the silver button on the top right of your iPad (at the same time) and then email it to me, being sure to include your names in the email and TIMES as the subject.
4. Print and complete the following document. You may all work together, then take a photo with your iPad and email it to me, being sure to include your names in the email and MAP as the subject.

Evaluation
Your group will be presenting the map of Canada to the class. Make sure you take some notes now to identify the provinces, territories and capital cities. You should split the presentation between the three members: two members will have 4, and one will have 5. All of you will be evaluated the same way.
You should open this google document on your iPad so that we can project it using Apple TV when you present: once it is opened, take a screen shot using your iPad so that you have a working copy.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q8NjqrlPuBsMGnnrx5TQxjeKJpsxWdbCOgm…
Your presentation should explain the names and locations of your provinces or territories, the names of the capital cities, and at least one interesting fact about each of them. You may not read in front of the class, so be sure to practice your presentation with your group!
