"If education is the only defense against human catastrophe, peace education is the soul of education that can create the shield for human survival on the planet earth. It is only through peace education that peace can be installed in the human mind as an antidote to 'war is in the midst of men'".
Task
TASK: Song Lyrics
- Students should be aware that it is not only poetry that allows people to express their views and feelings in a particular era. Song lyrics are poetry, and they have expressed the emotions and beliefs of many generations, particularly their attitudes to war. Have these attitudes changed over time? With a look at some of the lyrics used over time about war, students can make their own understanding.

- What violent act/acts do you notice?
- Which of those acts of violence do you find most problematic and controversial?
- If those acts of violence are diseases, do you think they are curable or at least preventable?

Evaluation
Peace education simply teaches us about the threats of violence and strategies for peace. In addition, the history of peace education is arguably as old as human history, as cultures throughout the world have learned, and then taught the next generation - how to live peacefully with others.
Conclusion
Understanding peace education is more important than ever because we face a period in our history where war and conflicts cause greatest destruction to lives and property than ever before. Violence affects people’s life, the development and well-being of societies as well as armed violence and insecurity have a destructive impact on a country’s development, affecting economic growth and often resulting in long-standing grievances among communities.
