Introduction
[class profile --> 17 years old 15 intermediate level students who are in high school taking CLIL courses.]

In this class, we will be learning more about people who changed the history of the world through WebQuest!

Before starting to discover more about people in history, can you name the first historic person comes to your mind?

Now, we will take a look at what we will be doing step by step briefly. 

 

Task

1. You will form groups of 3 and are expected to design a poster consisting of 2 people in history. People who will be in your poster should be chosen among the ones that we will cover. Basically, you are expected to choose 2 people and create a poster about them. 

2. You can use any platforms you want to create your poster. 

  • Here are some suggestions; Canva, Powerpoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Paint etc. 

3. When you finish designing your remarkable work of arts, you are expected to explain why you have chosen those 2 people to other groups. 

  • choose a spokesperson, prepare a short speech for him/her including points that must be mentioned in speech.
    • why you have chosen those people, what kind of impact s/he had on public/world, what is the most impressive thing about these people etc. 

4. When you are finished with your posters and speeches, you will be given assessment rubrics. You are expected to evaluate your friends' works following the rubric.

Think about those two quotes above. Do you agree that, knowing the history can have an effect on how you shape your future? If yes, in what ways? If no, why history does not have an effect on future?

Knowing about the people who made the world what it is today is very beneficial since you can learn from them, their mistakes, their ways of thinking, their paths and etc. 

So, here is a chance for you to learn about history makers.

Visit all those sources, and choose 2 favorite people and create a poster about them. 

You will have 50 minutes to prepare your posters and your speeches. 

 

CHECKLIST

Make sure you have at least 2 different photos/pictures of the people.

You are expected to use simple past and past perfect tenses in your posters and also in your speeches.
Make sure that your poster is big enough for people to see and observe
Make sure your design is pleasing to an eye
Make sure your speech is no longer than 4 minutes. 

 

Evaluation

You can use the rubric below to evaluate your peers' work.

Design  There are 2 or more pictures that are of high quality, The font used is in harmony with the design of the poster and the colors that are used are pleases the eye of the viewer. There is only one picture and it is adequate. The font and the colors that are chosen does not bat the eye but they do not look great as well. There are no pictures. The font that's chosen is not very suitable and the colors do not look pleasant.
Informativeness The information about the people in both the poster and the speech is satisfying, and all the important points are included in the speech. Even though there are some missing parts in the information given, overall it feels enough, some important points were included. There is not enough information about the historical people in both the poster and the speech, almost no important points were included.
Language The words that are chosen are decent, simple past and past perfect is used appropriately, the spokesperson speaks fluently. The words are adequate, simple past and past perfect could have been used better and the spokesperson had some problems, yet the speech was still fluent and understandable enough. The words that are chosen disturbs the flow of the meaning, simple past and past perfect is not used or used poorly, the spokesperson is not fluent.

 

Conclusion

The poster with the highest points gets hanged to be displayed in the classroom for a week.

The two people that are included in the poster are discussed by the whole classroom for a short period of time.
