Renaissance Italy (From 1400 to 1600) Online Assignment

Introduction

This term, we have been learning about Renaissance Italy from the 1400's to the 1600's.

We have learned about (taken off of ACARA website):

1. The way of life in Renaissance Italy (social, cultural, economic and political features) and that roles and relationships of different groups of society (ACDSEH010).

2. Significant developments and/or cultural achievements that reflect the concentration of wealth and power in the city-states, such as art and learning (ACDSEH056).

3. Relationships between rulers and ruled in ONE Italian city-state such as Florence or Naples (ACDSEH057)

4. The role and achievements of significant individuals such as Lucrezia Borgia, Galileo, Leonardo da Vinci, Nicolo Machiavelli (ACDSEH058)

5. The spread of Renaissance culture to the rest of Europe, and its legacy (ACDSEH059).

This means that you - my Year 8 students - have the capability to:

1. Describe the way of life of people in Renaissance Italy.

2. Describe the work of Leonardo de Vinci; the work of Michelangelo; the thinking of Copernicus; and the invention of the printing press.

3. Investigate the learning in the Renaissance period.

4. Explain the influence of the Medici family in Florence as bankers and merchants, and their patronage of the arts.

5. Investigate the achievements of Galileo.

6. Outline the spread of Renaissance culture to England.

We now need to do some revision work on what we have learnt throughout this semester - so lets do a fun task before our end of term test.

Head over to the task section to see what we are doing!

Task

Now before you guys mumble about 'how can an assignment be fun?', you will be using computers to complete your tasks.

Now, before we start heading to the computers - lets talk about what we are having to complete to succeed at this assignment.

1. All students will have ____ pages in their PebblePad workbooks to complete by the date that I set up by the end of the lesson. This workbook shouldn't take more than 2 weeks to complete AND should be worked at at home.

2. Each student will need to complete each page of the workbook to the best of their knowledge, from what has been taught in class, AS WELL AS doing more research on the topic.

This is where it becomes more fun!

3. At the end of the workbook, you will be needing to click onto Adobe Spark to make your timeline of Renaissance Italy, this includes everything that has been taught in DATE order.

4. Once you have completed your timeline, make sure that you add it to the last page of your workbook so that I can see it.

5. Submit your assignments for marking.

6. You will either get your results back for this assignment at the end of term, or at the beginning of next term before we start learning about a different topic.

If you have any questions about the task at hand, please raise your hands now.

After that, you can go get your computers and get started. I will place my information back up on the screen and write it down so that if you need any help outside of class, you have my email.
