Responsibilities of a Citizen

Introduction

This WebQuest is intended for fourth graders or kids around ten years old.

This WebQuest helps children understand their responsibilities as citizens of the United States. It will explain what their duties are and what being a citizen means.

Task

Whether, you were born in the United States of America or another country you have probably wondered, "What does being a citizen of the US mean?"

You will learn more about citizenship, so you can create a colorful poster about what citizenship means to you.

This link will teach you about what citizenship is: https://www.ducksters.com/history/us_government/becoming_a_us_citizen.php

Read over this link and think about how you or someone you know relates to some of the details of citizenship.

Process

This video will tell you how you can take charge and play a role because you are a citizen.

Some things you NEED to include in your poster are:

- How does being a citizen (or looking to one day be a citizen) make you feel?

- What is something you want to do when you are older because you are a citizen? (ex: vote, run for any office, write petitions)

- What is something you get to do now because you are a citizen?

- A patriotic drawing and must use colors
