Introduction
In this webquest, you will learn about rocks and minerals. You will visit websites, write down facts about what you read, and also do simulations on minerals. This is an INDIVIDUAL assignment.
Indiana Standards:
3.ESS.3 Observe the detailed characteristics of rocks and minerals. Identify and classify rocks as being composed of different combinations of minerals.
Task
First, you will be doing a simulation on your computer over minerals. You will then write half a page over the simulation. Be sure to include what you learned, what the simulation does, and examples of minerals used.
Second, you will go to a website that lists a bunch of minerals and the 3 kinds of rocks. You are to pick one kind of rock (igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic) and write a paragraph over it. You are to include the minerals with in the rock, how the rock is formed, and examples of the rock.
Lastly, you will go to a website that lists minerals. You are to pick 10 minerals and list their properties. Properties include hardness, luster, color, streak, and density.
Process
Part 1: Go to this website and do the mineral simulation and write or type a half page over it. (20 points possible)

Part 3: Go to this website over minerals. Here you will choose 10 minerals. You will research (may use Google) the minerals properties (hardness, luster, density, streak, and color). You will write this down on a piece of paper or type it in a document. You will present the minerals you picked to me. (50 points possible)

Evaluation
The written or typed paragraph over the rock of your choice will be given to me to be graded when you are done.
The written or typed half page over the simulation will be turned in at the same time as your rock paragraph.
The 10 minerals you choose and their properties that you have listed will be presented to me one on one when everyone is completely done with the webquests.
Conclusion
As an extension project, you will type or write 3 questions down on a paper. These will also be presented to me when you present your 10 minerals.
