Ms. Cleckler's Class Biome WebQuest

Introduction

The National Geographic Junior Travelers Association is designing all new travel brochures for the various biomes found on Earth.  Now that you are almost an expert on biomes, you have been hired to help!

Task

There are three phases to this group project: research phase, creation phase, and presentation phase.

  • During the research phase, your group will conduct research on your assigned biome.
  • During the creation phase, your group will collaboratively create an online travel brochure for your biome.
  • During the presentation phase, your group will present your online brochure to the class.  
Process

Research Phase:

Your team will research your biome utilizing the websites below.  During the research phase, your team should collect facts, information, and online content to use in your online brochure.  You should divide the research among four roles: Flora Researcher, Fauna Researcher, Climate Researcher, Geography Researcher.

The Flora Researcher should focus on the various plantlife found in your biome.  The Fauna Researcher should focus on the animals and wildlife in your biome.  The Climate Researcher should focus on weather patterns and overall temperature conditions in your biome.  The Geography Researcher should focus on areas of the world and mapping your biome.

Your group should conduct research using the following websites:

Creation Phase:

After collecting all of your information, your team will use one of the websites below to create an online travel brochure about your biome.  Your brochure should include information from each researcher, and should look visually appealing.  Be sure to include pictures and any other online content you find fitting.

Presentation Phase:

After collaboratively creating your brochure, your team will present your online brochure to the class using the iPad or one of the desktop computers and the ELMO Digital Projector.  Each team member must take part in the presentation.  Be sure to present with good tone and volume, and make your presentation interesting to the audience!
