Are planets hot or are they freezing cold?
Earth is the perfect planet for people, but lets have some fun learning about all the other planets!

Hello, my future astronauts,
This is Captain Kirk from space headquarters. Your mission today is to learn about the great galaxy and the planets above. By gathering information from the list of questions below. The first thing I need everyone to do is to pair up with someone and give your team a name.There will be unlimited time to complete this mission.
Task:
1. How many planets are there and what are their names?
2. How many planets are between the sun and the earth?
3. On a piece of paper draw a picture of your favorite planet using a pencil, crayons or markers.

Hello my Mini Astronauts,

We will begin our exploring. Here you will be able to start your task activities, I will provide you with examples and a website to help you answer your questions. Remember that you have your partner so help each other. By now you should have chosen a name for your team. Write it on top of your paper.
ACTIVITY 1
Each pair will have their own computer and have unlimited time to complete the assignment. You will sit with your partner and use one computer.
You will answer these questions in the computer:
1. How many planets are there and what are their names?
2. How many planets are between the Sun and the Earth?
Step 1: Click on the link http://www.kidzone.ws/planets/ in this website you will find the names of each planet.
Step 2: Label each planet in this worksheet, (hint) they are already in order starting from the Sun. Count how many planets are in total and write the total number in bottom of your worksheet.
Step 3: Count how many planets are in between the Sun and the Earth.

ACTIVITY 2
Materials: 1 small construction paper, pencil, crayons or markers.
On this piece of paper you are going to draw a picture of your favorite planet. You are going to sketch first and then color. Be creative! I will be hanging your drawing around the classroom.

This is a good example except you will only be drawing ONE planet.
