Suburban, urban and rural living!

Introduction

There are so many places in the world to live. Each place will either be suburban, urban or rural living areas. Each will also have its own culture and community. Just like the story "The Twin Club" we read, people travel and live in different places. We get the privilege to read about these places to learn more about them.

Task

Would you like to choose where you want to live?

Would you choose a place that has the same culture, ethnicity (where your family is from ex: Italian, Mexican, Irish), or community as yours or something different?

Since we have been talking about different communities, we are going to do a fun project with these communities. I will need to take notes on as piece of paper, and then use the notes and resources for you to write your paragraph on another piece of paper.

You can use the following questions to help you write your paper.

You are going to decide if you want to live in an urban, suburban, or rural area?  and You will also explain the reason why you choose that community.

You will then pick the place you would like to live at and see if it is similar (the same) as yours or different than your culture.

Culture is the beliefs, customs, arts. etc., of a particular society, group, place or time.

This Web Quest is designed for second grade students. In the second grade students in California are to learn numerous social studies standards. This Web Quest uses the standard 2.2 Students demonstrate map skills by describing the absolute and relative locations of people, places, and environments. Within this standard is compare and contrast basic land use in urban, suburban, and rural environments in California. This is a fun way for students to learn about these environments and culture.
