CELTIC NATIONS: SCOTLAND, IRELAND AND WALES
What do you know about these territories? They are territories in Great Britain and Ireland:
- That were dominated by the Celts hundreds of years go. See picture
- Apart from English, they speak other languages, coming from the Celtic language.
- They are situated in the extremes and are very beautiful and green. See map

TASK
Students will prepare a "holiday brochure" about a city from the Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland or Wales.

Students will work in groups of 3 and will have different roles:
- a travel agent
- a photographer
- a linguist and amateur cook.

Process
CONTEXT
You are a group of people working for a travel agency, and you need to convince a group of tourists to come to one of the Celtic cities below:
- Dublin (Ireland)
- Cork (Ireland)
- Belfast (North Ireland)
- Glasgow (Scotland)
- Edinburgh (Scotland)
- Cardiff (Wales)
STEP 1:
Choose one of the cities above.

STEP 3
Start looking for information. In groups of 3. Each group will prepare a different task:
ROLE 1 - You are travel agents.
- What can you do? Activities for the weekend (Saturday to Sunday).
- What can you see? Tourist attractions: castles, museums, etc.
ROLE 2 - You are photographers.
- Where is it? Locate the city with a map.
- How do you get there? Means of transport to get you there.
- Find pictures of the city you chose, including: cities, castles, natural treasures. Write captions for them.
ROLE 3 - You are linguists and amateur cooks
- Find useful expressions the language spoken there (written & pronounced). Find a minimum of 8 expressions including: good morning, good afternoon, how are you & thanks.
- What can you eat? Look for typical meals of the region.

STRUCTURE
Your brochure must have:
A) A front cover with a engaging heading and pictures with captions. Under the picture write your group names and the date.
B) Inside: one or two pages with:
1) An introduction paragraph about the city.
2) A map with the location of the city.
3) Answer the following questions. A different paragraph for each question.
Paragraph 1: what can you do and see?
Paragraph 2: what can you eat?
Paragraph 3: where can you stay?
Paragraph 4: useful phrases in the language they speak there.
