Taking a Flight to Discover Arkansas Regions

Introduction

You are about to take a flight!  Your flight will be around the state of Arkansas.  You are the pilot, and your co-pilot is one of your peers.   Your goal during this flight is to locate and gather facts about the different land regions, the mountains ranges, and the major rivers.

In order to begin your flight, you will need to gather a few items.  But before you do that, watch the virtual field trip titled Arkansas Regions Journey at the following link, https://tourbuilder.withgoogle.com/builder#play/ahJzfmd3ZWItdG91cmJ1aWxkZXJyEQsSBFRvdXIYgICghuqhnQgM

You will need the following:

  • A co-pilot (previously assigned)
  • I-pad ( to watch virtual field trip)
  • Journal (with notes from virtual field trip)
  • Red, green, and black markers
  • Pencil
  • Flight plan paper  (teacher has copies)

Task

Once you have completed your flight, compile all of your information.  Next, using technology (movie, powerpoint, slideshow, etc.) recreate your flight plan identifying each region, the mountains you discovered, and the major rivers you found. Your goal is to take your classmates on your flight and inform them about what you discovered!

Process

  1. Pilot and co-pilot create a meeting place.
  2. Gather your materials
  3. Watch the virtual field trip and take notes
  4. Label your flight plan
  5. Compile your notes and come up with at least 2 characteristics about each region.
  6. Using a technology program of your choice (powerpoint, slideshow, movie), create a presentation that you will present to the class.
