Technology as a learning advantages "Let's make good use of social media platforms"

There are so many ways of teaching nowadays using technologies and unconventional style of teaching. In this changing world, technologies are inevitably what we need to move and go on in order for us to advance even in teaching. Traditional is undeniably slow because it usually decreases the student's enjoyment because of the outcomes. 

 

 

Task

The students should know these things at the end of the lessons:

  • The students would definitely learn how to create their own accounts in so many sites.
  • They should know how to communicate using the social media platforms in proper ways.
  • The students would understand how faster the technology and enjoyable in terms of learning and teaching.
  • The students would know true importance and purposes of social media platforms.
Process

Using social media platforms(Facebook, Skype, Instagram, Twitter, and youtube) the students would be given these activities:

  • The students would create their own account in Facebook (www.facebook.com) then the teacher and students would join in a group that talks about only in how does technology helps them in learning. The students are required to like, comment and share the page for every topic that teacher posts or shares.

  • Using Skype, each students would create their own account. After creating their own accounts, each will find their own partner and will have a video call then they would talk and discussed about what they have learned and reflection regarding of how technology shold be utilise in learning.

  • The students will create their own instagram accounts. After creating, they are required to post or upload any photos of themselves with any types of gadgets that can use in teaching in their background. Afterwards, they are also required to follow each other's accounts.

  • The students will create their own twitter account. After creating, they will tweet any topics or phrases in the platform about the technology in teaching. And they will follow and retweet each other's account.

  • Lastly, the whole class will be divided in group of 5 and every members of the group must create their own youtube account. After creating, each group would create a video that is about a teacher teaching students using different types of technologies in teaching. Everyone is required to watch, subscribe and like the videos of each other's group.

Note: Each activity might take one whole class time slot so these activities should take 5 days.

Conclusion

For me, I realised that it is more faster to use technology in teaching and also I learned how to use the social media platform properly. I also learned that there are various of ways of teaching as a future teacher like using the sites for teaching purposes.
