I got my images off of Google Images.
I found the two YouTube videos on Youtube.
I was inspired by Lori McDonald's lesson plan on past, present and future.
Attached below is my abbreviated lesson plan:
UNIT: Time
GRADE LEVEL: First Grade
TOPIC: Understanding time can be divided into categories
THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How can we talk about different time frames in our classroom?
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: First graders beginning to understand how families lived long ago and how they live in other cultures. We are going to help develop their understanding of time categories and what those categories are!
CONTENT STANDARDS ADDRESSED BY PROJECT Students will understand time can be divided into categories (e.g., months of the year, past, present, and future).
STUDENT TECHNOLOGY STANDARD ADDRESSED BY PROJECT: Students will articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology and achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
LEARNING/INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES: 1. Students will be able to identity the different time categories
2. Students will create a story about each time category
3. Students can name the 12 months
MATERIALS/RESOURCES (includes URLs for Internet research): Pencils, notebooks, computer, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omkuE6Wa5kQ, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7GbQ2YH8Ck
