Introduction
The United Arab Emirates is home to people from around the world. There is so much to see and experience in this wonderful country. It's time to explore....
Task
Imagine that you have been employed as a tour guide in the UAE for the next 7 days.
What will you take people to see and experience? Where should they stay? What should they eat? How much money should they budget to spend?
THE TASK:
You will need to work with a partner to complete this task.
Your final travel itinerary will need to include:
- Visit to AT LEAST 2 emirates.
- 3 suggestions for accommodation (per emirate)
- 2 activities/attractions per day (over 7 days)
- Suggested meal plan per day (that offers the guests traditional emiratee food options, to be cooked at hotel or eaten out)
- A list of important emergency contact numbers (fire, police, ambulance)
- A 'fun facts' page about the UAE
You should put all of your research and information into a colourful and informative travel guide, organised into a day-by-day itinerary (Sunday to Saturday). You can use Powerpoint/Google Slides to present your guide.
Process
STEP ONE: you will need to do your RESEARCH and TAKE NOTES:
This list of websites will be a good starting point to plan your UAE itinerary. These are NOT the only websites worth visiting:
https://u.ae/en/information-and-services/visiting-and-exploring-the-uae/travel-and-tourism
https://www.lonelyplanet.com/united-arab-emirates
https://visitabudhabi.ae/ae-en/default.aspx
http://www.fujairahtourism.ae/
https://www.planetware.com/united-arab-emirates/ras-al-khaimah-uae-rak-rasal.htm
**You will also be given time to visit the school library for further research.
STEP TWO: You will need to REVIEW all of the information that you have researched. Decide on the most important pieces of information that you want to include in your travel itinerary.
STEP THREE: Start organising this information into DAYS OF THE WEEK (for example...On Monday guests will visit the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall)
STEP FOUR: Edit your travel guide for spelling and grammar mistakes.
STEP FIVE: Search for photos to include in your travel guide (for example...a picture of a desert camp or Jumeirah beach at sunset). Save them and insert them into your presentation document.
Evaluation
At the end of the week you will present your travel plan to your peers.
Your peers will assess your plan and give a score out of 5 stars for each of the following categories:
- Choice of ENTERTAINMENT
- FOOD options provided
- Quality of ACCOMMODATION
- Detail of BUDGET provided
Your aim is to score 5 STARS for each category.
Conclusion
Well done on working hard this week to create a detailed travel guide that can be shared with the teachers and students at AIS.
