Un Viaje a La Republica Dominicana

Introduction

Join me on a trip to the beautiful Dominican Republic! We will explore the diverse regions and major cities of the country, including the capital, Santo Domingo, the second capital, Santiago, and SamanĂ¡. We will make the most out of the 4-day, budget-friendly (in Dollars) weekend trip. We will utilize our Spanish-speaking abilities and learn more about the cuisine and culture. As explorers, we will learn about the history of the country and its founding fathers, as well as which landmarks are the most visited by tourists. We will also learn about the goods that are imported, as well as those that are exported.

Task

Individual task (La Tarea):

Design and create a travel brochure (digital presentation) using Google Slides or Canva. In the brochure, identify and showcase the history, culture, foods, main landmarks, and economy. Organize and calculate a breakdown of expected expenses when visiting the Dominican Republic. The brochure may be developed in English but must include Spanish words or phrases likely to be needed, e.g., when ordering food or asking about landmarks, preferably about 50% Spanish. Analyze and select a list of landmarks to visit, and compare and contrast foods that are a must-eat. Include information about music genres that are specific to the Country and any special holidays and traditions.

Process

Gather data and asynchronously manage the project by working in increments.

  1. Get acquainted with the Country and visit https://www.godominicanrepublic.com/ for information about where to visit, places to stay, and things to do.
  2. For information regarding art & culture, research a few websites and blogs, including this one; https://www.lopesan.com/blog/en/art-in-the-dominican-republic/.
  3.  Regarding the economy, gather charts and data from https://tradingeconomics.com/dominican-republic/exports.
  4.  Cuisine can be dependent on preference, but for must-eats, consider the choices mentioned here: https://inbetweenpictures.com/blog/11-things-must-eat-in-the-dominican-republic.
  5. Last but not least, history has all to do with who a Country becomes; read the info and highlight the major importance from https://everything-everywhere.com/the-history-of-the-dominican-republic/.
