San Salvador de Jujuy is a city with a diversity of dishes, you can find typical ones like empanadas and tamales, junk food like hot dogs, pizzas and chips, restaurants with vegan, vegetarian and diet food, there are even new places to eat some ramen and onigiris! But, have you ever think about how the food you eat affects your health? Before reading the text "Junk Food Heaven" on the page 73 and 74 respectively, watch the following video, compare it with your diet and answer the following questions:

  1. How do you feel after watching the video? (surprise, sad, hungry, etc.)
  2. Which of those dishes are usually in your diet?

Once you finished sharing your answers with the class, read the text and reflect with your partner the following questions:  

  1. How would you describe the 'American' diet? Is your diet similar or different?
  2. Why did the narrator call heaven to the junk food section? What did he find there?
  3. How did his wife react? 
  4. If you lived abroad, which traditional food from your country would you miss the most?
Task

This task will be divided into three parts: 

  1. Work in pairs and take turns asking and answering the following questions about your diet (take notes of the answers of your classmate, you are going to share them with the class):
    • What is your favourite food? 
    • Do you ever eat food from other country/cultures? If so, what? 
    • Do you consider your diet healthy or unhealthy?
  2. Individually. Write about your daily diet answering the question "What do you eat in a day?" in two or three paragraphs (80 words). 
  3. Work in pairs to create a vlog (no more than 5 minutes) following the topic What I eat in a day. As an example, we provide you these videos: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMj3wjrtn/ https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMj3w2ng8/. You can use the previous activities as a guide to write a new draft. Once you finished, share the video with your classmates in the WhatsApp group.

Vlog /vlɒɡ/ a video blog, a record of your thoughts, opinions, or experiences that you film and publish on the internet.

 

Process
  • Watch the TikTok videos provided, pay attention to the format, pictures and expressions. 
  • Introduce yourself (name, age) 
  • Think about your daily routine and diet, you can make a short list and write a draft before recording. 
  • Reflect on the apps that you can use such as TikTok, YouCut, ShotCut, etc. 
  • Use different features such as adding photos, music, effects, etc. 
  • Share your production with your classmates in the WhatsApp group. 

Products:

Each group will present what they have prepared. The rest of the groups will have to listen, take notes, ask questions, share opinions and give feedback. 

Report /analysis and practice phase:

  1. Listen to each other.

  2. Take notes, prepare some comments. 

  3. Select language that needs to be improved.

  4. Share comments, reflect, give feedback to each other.

  • How do feel when you have to speak?

Conclusion

Nowadays, almost all of us are tech friendly but everyday we can learn something new. It is important to share our knowledge so everybody can improve their skills and be able to communicative effectively.
