Chicago Fire-Differentiated

Introduction

In 1871, a fire surprised Chicago. This fire started on a Sunday night and didn't stop until early Tuesday morning. It lasted for 31 hours!  The part of Chicago

The fire left many people homeless and destroyed many of Chicago's great buildings. The fire shocked the people of Chicago, and to this day, the cause of the fire is a mystery.

YOUR JOB IS TO FIND OUT WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED THE FIRE!

Task

For today's class, you will use the computer to complete the activity.  You will have a teacher sitting behind you to help you if you need it.

Here are the three things you will do:

  1. Read and watch videos about possible causes of the fire
  2. Use the information from the reading and videos you watch to determine what YOU THINK caused the fire
  3. Create a way to explain what YOU THINK caused the fire. Here are some ways you could do that: create a comic strip that details your theory; create 4 Power Point slides that tell your story; create a news broadcast where you are a reporter with breaking news about The Great Chicago Fire.

Take a deep breath. Now if there is anything about this assignment that is confusing; talk to your teacher about it. If you feel comfortable with this activity, you can click on "Process"...
