  1. A Shield Volcano,
  2. A Cinder Cone Volcano, and a
  3. A Composite Volcano
  4. Search for your own examples of each of the three types of volcanoes, you will share one of these as a mini-presentation to the class.

Describe each of the three types of volcanoes listed above by writing about their unique features:

Give the name of each volcano, describe where each one is geographically located (the Country or Island and Continent), and

answer the following questions for each volcano.

Volcano 1

Name of the Volcano:_________________________________________________

What type of Volcano is this: ___________________________________________

Is it  explosive or nonexplosive?

What is it's shape?

Draw the Volcano's shape here:

How tall is it?

What is it's elevation?

Which of the 4 types of Lava erupts from this volcano?

(Distinguish between the 4 types of Lava- Aa Lava , Pahoehoe Lava, Pillow Lava or Blocky Lava)

Create a Hyperlink to the volcano you will be sharing with the class (only one of the three you have researched). We will use the overhead projector so you can surf that site to show your volcano to the class.

Paste your Hyperlink in here:

You will create a poster board to show off your new found knowledge.  You MUST use bright colors, you do not get a second chance, you need to show the three types of volcanoes.  You will use what you've learned to create your own posterboard that demonstrates what you've learned. You MUST use new words that were learned.  I will NOT accept messy, ugly, and otherwise undone boards.

Good luck!

Process
  • GOALS

  • To learn the three main types/structures of Volcanoes.
