Let's take a closer look at some of the data and resources for Migrant Education.

Task

Visit the OSPI Report Card at http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/summary.aspx and select your school district. Use this resource to answer questions 1 through 3. 

1. In 2015-16 school year, how many migrant students were identified in your district and/or building?

2. What percentage of your student population are identified as migrant in the 2015-16 school year?

3. Compare the last three years in terms of the number of migrant students and the percentage they represent in your school district and/or building. What are your findings?

Visit the OSPI Performance Indicators and select Graduation Rates. The link is: http://www.k12.wa.us/DataAdmin/PerformanceIndicators/DataAnalytics.aspx. Use this resource to answer questions 4 through 6.

4. Select the District Detail tab and find your district. What is the 4-year graduation rate for your migrant students?

5. What is the 5-year graduation rate for your migrant students?

6. Compare your migrant student graduation rate to your non-migrant. What are your findings?

7. Select the P. Opportunity Gap. Select Migrant and another student group for 3rd grade. Are there are any gaps?

8. Select the District Detail tab and find your district. Compare students group and their percentage of failure rate. How do migrant students perform?

9. Select the Gap tab and find your district. Compare migrant students to non-migrant students. What are your findings?

10. Select the District Detail tab. What student group has the highest chronic absenteeism rate?
