Water Pollution

Introduction

This WebQuest deals with water from scientific, geographic and environmental points of view. It was created as part of a literacy (reading and writing) project.

Introduction- you can work with one partner. 

 OVERVIEW:

Water is life. All living beings depend on water. How much do you know about it? Have you ever considered that life on Earth could disappear because of the scarcity of water? Let's see what is there, what dangers we face and what we can do to guarantee healthy life in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Task

Work in PAIRS, to complete the task. 

You will need to access the PROCESS tab in this WebQuest and answer the Questions in your book. 

You will need to complete this IN-CLASS. Any unfinished work will be homework. 

 

Work well and have fun learning about how to improve the quality of water in the world. 

 

Process

Complete the following task. 

Find ONE place in the world with high pollution levels. (E.g China, India, Brazil, Japan etc) You will find this using research skills on Google. Then answer the questions with the information you find. 

 

1. Locate a waterway in your chosen location and explain how that waterway has become polluted. (4-5 sentences)

2. What effects has the pollution had on the biodiversity in the water and riverines in that location? (4-6 sentences)

3. What is being done to reduce the pollution levels in the water? (4-6 sentences)

4. How is the water in that location used by people who live there? (3-4 sentences)

5. Create a slogan and logo (drawer it in your writing book)  that can be used in that location to promote healthy use of the water and to remind people to be respectful to the environment.

6. Once you have finished, you must get your work checked by the teacher before moving onto the next task. 

 

 

 

Evaluation

Use your team work skills to meet the following criteria;

1. Complete all 5 Questions with the sentences needed to answer the question. 

2. Address all the actions and consequences that can be caused by pollution. 

3. Work as a team with your partner. Use research and your own knowledge to find solutions to the environmental problems that are caused by humans and machines. 

4. Use vocabulary that shows how well you understand the geographical and environmental issues that affect our water.

Conclusion

Make sure your work is completed by Game show Wednesday 23rd October.
