Aaron Pearcy-Historical Figures in Kentucky

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what kind of people lived in the state of Kentucky in the past? There are many famous and important people that lived in Kentucky. In this Webquest you will learn about five historical figures that impacted Kentucky history.

Task

Students will research a historical figure and write a letter to them. Then they will make a poster about them and present it to the class.

Process

Today we are going to learn about historical figures that lived in the state of Kentucky. You will choose one of the five historical figures listed below and research them.  By clicking on the person’s name, it will take you to a website that will tell you all you need to know about the person.

Step 1:

Explore the following websites about your selected historical figure.

Step 2:

While reviewing the website write down important facts and information to help you complete the activity.  For example: The year your historical figure was born.  Where they lived?  What made them important?  Was anything created in their memory?

Step 3:

Each person then writes a letter to their specific historical figure asking any questions they might have, mentioning specific events the historical figure was a part of.  Be sure in your letter you are showing the information you have learned about your historical figure.

Step 4:

Now design a poster to present to the class showing what you have learned about your historical figure. Be sure to include what made this person so famous and at least three of their biggest achievements.
