Building Blocks of a Support Team

Introduction

Today you will be researching the impact the principal and teacher have on the roles
and responsibilities of an EA. A principal has many influences on an EA’s job, it
begins with the hiring qualified EA’s, scheduling where the EA’s will be placed
amongst the school classrooms, and not ending with the handling of the communication
amongst the support team, student and family. A teacher also has many
influences on an EA’s job as well, theirs begins with directing an EA on the tasks that
need to be accomplished inside and outside the classroom, communicating with the
EA on the learning support that is required to aid in a student’s learning goal,
delegating what jobs the teacher will not be able to accomplish that day and need assistance to complete. These
two professionals don’t just impact an EA’s job day to day, they have an impact
on everything an EA is set to accomplish is the school’s mission. Lets get that mind rolling!

Task

Your task will be to research 5 ways (each) the principal and teacher have on impacting the roles and responsibilities of an EA. Also explain how their relationship in the learning environment has a great deal of impact on the learning outcome of the student.

Task 1

You and a partner will research the links provided and gather your information.

Task 2

You will create a Power Point presentation that will consist of an intro, body, conclusion, and bibliography. There must be a minimum of 15 slides, of those 15 slides there must be 2 pictures, 1 video, and you must use creativity to keep your audience interested.

Task 3

You and your partner will present your Power Point to the class on June 19th, 2015.

Conclusion

Understanding the importance of the support and impact the principal and teacher have on an EA’s roles and responsibilities in the learning support team we can now start to see the impact one can have on the many. No one support staff is needed more then the other, the understanding is that the building blocks of a support team cannot be strong if one of those blocks is removed. You can now walk away understanding that even the educational assistant has many assistants.
