Students have to make researches about different kinds of cancer, treatments,symptoms and cancer related organizations.Then they can create a simple leaflet about cancer and a presentation for the class.

Introduction

 Nowadays it seems that everywhere you go, you learn that there are some new devices, foods or chemicals that give cancer. Stuffs that we use everyday and don't even know about their consequences but do we really know about cancer? How can cancer affect you? What are the causes and how you can prevent cancer? SO, let's find together about cancer !!!!!!

Task

You have started an organization called "cancer organization for kids" or COFK . Your group is going to design a simple cancer awareness leaflet for a simple kind of cancer and present if to some other groups and organizations.

Your group will have to choose one type of cancer from the list and we will be discussing it together just to make sure that each group has a different subject. 

  • Pancreatic Cancer
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Lung cancer
  • Colon cancer
  • Leukemia
  • Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • Kidney Cancer (renal cell)
  • Endometrial Cancer
  • Melanoma (skin) Cancer

In group you will decide which role everyone will be given and what parts of the question you will answer from the list.

  •  Why is your cancer named so?
  •  Who first discovered cancer and when?
  • Who does it affect?

  •  How common is your type of cancer?
  •  How many people are diagnosed annually?
  •  What is the mortality rate?
  • What types of research and how many of them are currently being done to help people with cancer?

Diagnosis

  • What are the symptoms of your type of cancer?
  •  How is cancer treated?
  •  What are the side effects of the treatment?
  •   How can cancer be prevented?

Support

  •  How does cancer effect the daily lives of people?
  •  What type of support is available for people with cancer?
  •  Describe three organizations that help people diagnosed with cancer.
  • What can we do to help people who are living with cancer?

You can use any resources to help you through your project.

Step 3

You may create a simple leaflet about the informations that you collected for the project. You can include pictures, graphics,audio,video. The leaflet must a a normal paper size and all informations must be typed.Image result for pamphlet images emojis

Your group will give a presentation about cancer and it must be organized according to different roles giving by everyone. you can chose either to:

Interview someone with cancer

  • Create a song
  • Create a poem
  • Create a powerpoint
  • Create a litle leaflet to be used by kids

Spelling and Grammar and Mechanics

 Errors make the piece difficult tocomprehend. Little or no attention to mechanics, grammar or spelling  Many errors, some areas difficult to comprehend due to errors.  A few minor errorsin spelling,sentence structureor grammar, but does not effect the overall meaning of the writing Displays proper use of grammar, sentence structure, and spelling. This quote is a powerful quote because long time ago some people are fighting against this disease called cancer. It can affect anybody including your friend, family and related. This project will help have a better un derstanding about the disease and help some people diagnose it earlier. The cure for cancer has been waiting for so long and the day that they will discover the cure it will be like a miracle for this world and maybe the death of people would stop. i can't wait for this day.

 Introduction-Leaners and Process

This lesson is designed to halp students understand cancer. The students will know the different types of cancer and treatments and also can help others to know about cancer too.

Learners can be from  grade K -12 science students

To complete this project students must learn the concepts about project presentation. The  first three steps in the process  can be (selecting a topic, assigning roles and creating the pamphlet). It should take aproximatively 2 weeks for the project which is 1 week for the work and 1 week for the presentation.
